Note 7: Speed Limits

Wow, truthfully speaking. I do not think anybody will miss this blog anymore.

Since the last entry was 2008, people will and would consider this blog dead.

Anyways getting to the point.

Have you had an experience whereby there is a normally fast song, the longer you hear it, eventually the song will appear slower to you.

It was a little scary at first because the initial tempo will appear warped in some case because, or what I think is. My ears and brain were trained to pick up certain notes or patterns and anticipate them, so it's like seeing into the future.

But somehow, it does not apply for me and piano.
I wonder why...

Slow songs are of no problem.

But fast songs are a problem for me.
For example.

There is a song that I am learning now, Sinister Sundown.
So far, most of the songs that I am learning isn't giving me much trouble, save for Hungarian Rhapsody No.2 (Curse you Franz Liszt).

But the Sinister Sundown song is a different breed of monster altogether.
Even though I may get the notes down.
Playing it is another thing.

My brain tells me it is the right tempo, yet in actuality...
I am 3 times slower...

Alright.
Time to hone my skills yet again.
Improving on my dexterity and finger accuracy.

Note 6: Pipe Standings

Well well well...

Long have I not posted in this chronicle..

At least I have today to take a little break and stay a little late to refresh this blog, not as if I want to find excuse not to do it as usual.

Well, so far my compositions are quite stagnant.
Compositions are hard to do. Even harder than the General Paper essays that you have to churn out during exams. Trust me. Even during the actual examinations, I have difficulties coming up with inspiration.

Song generation are quite easy, I hum it..
Being along have its advantages, I hum to myself. A lot of times, I made catchy songs, but the irony is that after 2 hours. My memory is like a selective steel trap.
I forgot about the melody I was supposed to remember..

So...
Now I was relegated to practising piano to not turn my skills rusty. Planning on what to do after 'A' Levels is to regain my lost direction of music.

Junior College has the power to suck out the souls of people literally, with all the litany of characters you encounter, its a small wonder that you still have your sanity.

Okay..
I gotta go now.
Ciao.

Thats a lot?????

Sigh...

That is it...

Note 4: Composition

Here are the pieces that I have been trying to compose. And frankly..
All have not been completed.

These are the two of the planned pieces that I am going to integrate into my Symphonic Poem 'Friendship'.

1st Movement: The Walk of the Endless Path
Completion Rate: 15%
Status: Searching for Inspiration
Comments: Sounds awfully like Pirates of the Caribbean...

2nd Movement: Waltz of the Rain
Completion Rate: 10%
Status: Tinkering on the piano.
Comments: Still wondering how to create a flowing music with left hand not banging and not sounding chordal, motif is defined already. Trying to do some repetition and the canon style integration.

3rd- 5th Movement: .....
Completion Rate: 0%
Comments: Aieeee!!!! Still not enough inspiration!!!

Due to the slow rate I am completing the pieces, I have a hard time to even playing the piano.
So..
I expect the pieces That I have listed to be done by the end of next year.

Now, let me see the etudes that Tay Yi said..
Should be able to play them..

Note 3: Suspension

Yesterday was the final day of my piano lesson.
Hopefully until the day when my 'A' Levels ended.

However my pieces plan will still go on, albeit in an easier pace than ever before...

So now...
What I am learning now?

Well. To perfect my Eternal Harvest and start on One Winged Angel piano version and Rufus' Welcoming Ceremony.

Yes.
Now gaming music is not confined to bleeps and bloops.
They are the modern works of art.
Unlike classical music where there is more technical and modern where it is Even more technical and more feeling infused.

A hard genre indeed.
It is akin to the modified Romantic period music.

Okie..

What I wish for..
My own house and a Steinway and Sons Grand Piano.

Note 3: Dreams

Having dreams are good, especially impossible dreams.

But no my friend, dreams are not unachievable.
I am determined to get to my goals.

So far.
Completed The Eternal Harvest, much to my chagrin of my parents.
Who viewed my piano pieces like lesser melodies.
They wanted it to sound peaceful...

Ok.
Maybe I can fulfil their wishes.
Put in more time to practise piano.

Ok.
Gotta go.

Note 2: Hours

Increasingly hard to find time to practice on the piano nowadays.
I can't believe how am I going to survive...(Hold on... Not that dramatic)

My mom pleaded with me NOT to listen to the iPod when I study.
After about 45 minutes I think I have cold turkey syndrome, you know the ones that drug offenders have?
Yes.
I was so cranky and upset. I also don't know where did that came from.
It also happens during the General Paper class today.

The silence is killing me!
Yet I abhor random noises.
Something must be wrong with me....

Anyways.
Just now, got scolded by my father for playing piano late in the night.
Yet he later turned against his word by asking me to play louder as it is his favorite song!
What a hypocrite!

Returning to the basics seems good for me.
Bach Two-part Invention seems like a good choice for me.

The two-part invention is actually a single hand each plays a different melody. Yet it blends together.
Although in actuality is not like that.....

If anyone of you want to know, I will gladly explain it to you.
Richard Claydermann!
You the man!! He is not even the top tiered artiste. Yet he still manage to win the hearts of other audience.

I hope I can captivate audiences unlike any others.

Ok.
