Now lets review this year in total for music.


Firstly!

I would like to thank my Piano Teacher Mdm Lim Puay San.
She has guided me for all these years and really really encourages me.

Like.
She is even better than any other teachers I have encountered out there.
The second one is Ms Lee Lilian or Mdm Lee.

The toughie this year I have encountered is the Grade 7 ABRSM Piano Practical..

As it was 'conveniently' set during the starting of the Junior College school term...

I was desperately trying to fit into the mindset of the exam and yet the pressure of the "ORIENTATION CAMP" was still fresh stuck to my mind...

The worst part was.

THE EXAMINER himself..
He was a tall and stout guy.
An opera singer.

And he was very very tough to please...

He scrutinized every single mistake I made and blew it up.
But.
It was a Grade 7 exam..

I would expect no less from him...

So.
As fates smiles on me.
I passed.

Barely.


And this year is the record LOWEST number of songs I have learnt in this year.

Granted now all of the songs are from Final Fantasy.

They are tough and not to be trifled with.


So..
Now I am learning the Golden Saucer from Final Fantasy 7 and One exam piece.

I finally finished the Besaid island of FFX (the Song! Damnit!!)

Now I am moving up on to the FFVII songs..

Islandic Theme

I have now moved on to the Besaid Island theme from Final fantasy X.

Although I have heard the song before, I want to play it as it fits my feelings in this current mood.

Anyways.
My teacher also wanted me to play another exam pieces and all these is due this Friday...

Olden Songs

I was zoning out on my piano chair either yesterday or today when I suddenly thought of..


Lets go back to the songs that I could not play previously!!!

Maybe I can play them again!!!

So I looked back and saw my Final Fantasy VII Piano Collections..

Yup.
Guessed It..

I started playing it again..
From the top this time round...

I felt that..
I can do everything...
I will do it..

Strange it only apply to piano work..
But school work..
There is no motivation for me to study..

I didn't even know when or where the motivation comes from...


It scares me to even know this...

My Style

My style of playing piano is kinda emotional...

I need visuals to able to 'see' on in the context hear what the piece is telling me..

So my style is very drastic...
It also depends on my mood...

Sometimes I am very tired.(This applies nowadays...)
I will really have no energy to play..

But you can compare my style to be bold and dramatic...
Such as the music from Shadow of the Colossus.

My style of playing also encompasses slow songs with it my forte..

I feel that I can control the mood better with slow songs..
I do not fare well with fast songs..

To play well means to practise a lot of times...

Such as the song from Final Fantasy VII
Fighting...

I fought all the way to the third bar.

In 3 months..

Shocking I should say...

He composed the popular song "Hungarian Rhapsody No.2"...

It is about 87% complete and the good news..
I managed to get 90% of the chorus part right!!!

Finally I managed to squeeze a teeny little bit out of the piece and make it sound presentable..

But I came a bit too early I fear...

I have to wait for them to make their way home...

So I waited from 2.pm till 3.15p.m...

It is very tiring and I was being sapped of all energy when I attend a lesson..

I gave it my all and my mental capability...
I had to hold them together...
I have to exert control over myself and think carefully what to teach...

If they did not practise I have to drill them and make them do it...

I cannot afford to waste any more lesson times as exams are drawing near and I still have a "JC" problem to deal with...

With more and more lessons with them I tend less to stumble with my words and gain more confidence in teaching them..

Yeah...
That is about it..

It is basically a piano version..
So it must be accompanied by a vocalist to be a complete version..
DUH...

It is a simple song that is comprises of triplets...
However it is difficult to get the feel right...

It is fun and lilting theme and and based off jazzy tunes...

Now about 1/4 through..

Oh yeah...
I will post my thoughts about these pieces and the journey about learning each and every pieces in this blog...
